This weekend was full of activity, including the Raw Talent 2010: 12×12 Vancouver Photo Marathon Exhibit at Vancouver Photo Workshops. This is where the images from the Marathon in September (see past blog post here) were displayed and Winners announced. It has been over a month since the images were created on 35mm film, and it was great to finally see how I and 59 others had interpreted the themes. There were some amazing, interesting, thought provoking and just plain silly photos.
The room was packed full of people and photos. To be honest, I had image overload – too many images to look at all at once! Luckily you and I can view them again on 12×12 Vancouver Photo Marathon’s Flickr pages. My set is #44.
Congratulations to the participants and the winners for their creativity, to the organizers for a job well done and to all the folks who came by last night to view the results!
Here’s a few of my images that stand out for me:
04 – “Expendables”
Adjective: Subject to use or consumption / Not worth salvaging or reusing / Not strictly necessary; dispensable
This concept came to me quickly, so I biked to GasTown to find the right place and person.
I was quite excited when a little red appeared on this dreary day, and am happy to see that I was able to (almost!) centre the umbrella in the circle, even if that doesn’t have anything to do with the theme.
I found this spot early in the morning, and I was excited that I was able to use it later that day. I love the way the reflective surface distorts the image of the skateboarder.
