Finding Career Bliss

I am a dreamer.

I like to create.

And it turns out that I’m a connector too.

(well, I knew that but it was underneath a bunch of other things)

You’re probably like me… wanting a career to be more than a job.  Wanting to make a difference, and for the day-to-day to be inspiring.  And blissful!

Photography is like that for me.  At least the part when I am creating and connecting and dreaming.  Those parts are pure bliss.  And in this business where that is only part of what I do in the day-to-day, it was good to identify that creating connections is what gives me energy.  What makes me come back for more.

okay… you might be thinking… how did I find this Eureka! moment?  Did it arrive on my doorstep?

Yes! It was that easy… I had a guide.  I had a bliss-finder.

Sabrina helped me see what was right in front of me.  That I get to do the thing I love… which is to CREATE CONNECTIONS.  That is my work purpose.  That is my career bliss.  And Photography is my medium.

Hanging out (a.k.a. “working”) with Sabrina helped me identify what skills I had – which ones I felt good about and which ones I was good at but made me tired.

Okay.  Here’s one of my realizations:

Surrounded by accountant siblings, I felt that I should be good with numbers too.  And I was, to a point.  (That is, when I could focus without daydreaming.)  But that wears me out.  Spreadsheets and timesheets and taxes… all that.  Sure.  I can do that.  But why should I when it takes all my energy, and when my siblings love taxes and other friends of mine love spreadsheets… I should let them have them!  They will THANK ME for it, right?!

Instead, I get the numbers that I want!!!!  F-stops!  (oh f-1.4 you are so pretty. and f-16… for the landscapes, yes…)  And phone numbers!  I love talking to people.  So why try to be something I’m not… instead be what I am!  A connector!

You see?  Find your career bliss and work no longer seems like ‘work’.  It feels like ‘being’.
